Hard Starting Sign In

If I do not start my car in 3 or 4 days, it doesn't start right away. The battery is good. I put in a new fuel filter. I try to start the car, it cranks and then it tries to start, but it doesn't. After about 5 or 6 times it starts and you can smell like it is running rich. If I drive the car every day I do not have a problem. When I start my car I always turn the key to the on position and listen for the electrical fuel pump, when it stops then I turn the key to start position. My Car is a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado ETC with only 79,000 miles.

Re: Hard Starting Sign In

long crank time can be an indication of a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

you noted that "it tries to start but doesn't"
possibly could be due to faulty spark plug wires...
maybe its time to change plugs and wires...

just a couple thoughts....

don't know if i'm on track or not...

have seen many need regulators for long crank times...very common...

also have seen many with shorting spark plug wires, which as you probably know, foul the plugs...

post back results.
