Hard Gear Shifting in 1st & 2nd Gear (2004 Mazda 6i - Manual) Sign In

I have a Mazda6i ( 2004)- manual - 4 Cyclinder - 70K miles - 2.3L engine

From past 2-3 months are so I am having a bit hard to shift my gears between 1st - 2nd. Whenever I am
at a stop sign and then have to put the 1st gear and then move to 2nd, its bit hard.

From 2 weeks or so it has even become worst, at the day end or in the rush hour where you have to
go bumper to bumper its becoming hard shift to 1st gear, so I had to either put 2nd or 3rd and run it.

One more thing I noticed is that my clutch is not releasing fully from 2 weeks. I comes back to 80%
and then I have to tap it once again to come back fully.

Any help or suggestions from the PROS in these forums.

Thanks in advance.

This has a hydraulic system for to release & engage the clutch. In order to properly diagnose the clutch the hydraulic system has to be in working order. If your clutch isn't fully releasing then that would definitely make it harder to shift. Check and make sure the master cylinder is full.

Sounds like the master cyl may be getting weak. Try pumping the pedal a few times before you shift into 1st or 2nd and see if that makes it easier to shift. If you change out the master, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead & change the slave cylinder as well....
