Hi all!!

I'm one of those females that knows NOTHING about cars.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord VTI Automatic. Its a having a few problems which I have had check but want to get some other opinions as I am a single mum and the cheaper I can get things for the car the better!

The problem goes in this EXACT order

- Speedo plays up and eventually just stays on 0
- D4 light starts flashing
- Check engine light comes on

It also feels like the car is struggling abit in 1st gear.

I had it checked and was quoted $600 JUST FOR THE PART!!! They said they think its the Instrument panel.

AS i said Im a single mum so very open to opinions especially to help price wise. Im in Brisbane Australia so any tips on places to go around the area would be greatly appreciated as well.

Oh and also apart from that the car runs fine. after this all happens the car struggles to start but does and once going is great!

#1 - "They THINK" it's something! NO - They should KNOW what it needs not guess. Nobody wants to or can always spend what is needed but in that this isn't starting off properly you probably are harming the expensive catalytic converter which is after the fact but can add to the costs.

What $600 part? The AU $ is higher (I thought) than the US$ so whatever they suggested is expensive and might need that. I can't know from here so it should go where the diagnosis is accurate and explained to you that it needs XYZ to fix this,
