I was driving my car the other day heard a loud boom and front end of car now has something on top of right front passenger side tire and when you roll it smokes like crazy and burning the rubber what ever that is that fell underneath. I have no clue one person said the caliber and other said struts or strut plate broke?? ANY IDEAS and how much to fix? Thanks, TracyUnsure

You hit something (hence the BOOM), it tore the little retaining clips holding your splashguard up.

That is now "sitting on top" of the tire and rubbing on it creating stinky rubbery smoke.

That's what I got out of your description. If that's the case, a package of $2.99 Help! brand plastic clips should fix this - or a new splashguard (a few bucks form a junkyard) if you ripped all the holes.
