Grinding, clicking in steering column Sign In

I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus. While I was driving the car the air bag light came on, and I noticed a grinding & clicking sound & feeling in the column. The cruise control and horn quit working too. I haven't had it checked out yet... I know someone who should be able to fix it if it's not too complicated.
Thanks in advance!

The part that failed inside the steering column is called the "clockspring".

It will cause the air bag light, inoperative cruise and horn ,and the noise too.

<<AT YOUR/HIS OWN RISK>>

Its not that difficult to replace provided he has air bag system experience and/or knowledge.
If not,I suggest taking it to a qualified repair shop because serious injury can occur.
