Gas pedal does nothing for 5 seconds and then back Sign In

I have a Honda CRV, 2002. On the highway, at speeds greater than 55 mph, the gas/engine/? just pauses for 3-5 seconds and then comes back. The engine is still on, but there isn't any gas going to the engine. The car slows down until a few seconds later when it is back and pressing the pedal works. I don't drive on the highway very often, but it seems to be happening more. In town, where I usually drive and it is less than 45 mph, I never have this problem. I took the car in and I really can't remember what they said besides it isn't the fuel pump and I would have to just live with it. Also, they said 'resetting' something by turning the car off would work for a bit. I would like to driver longer distances but am concerned about this issue. Ideas would be appreciated.

Hard to say why it could do that but a full, proper, complete code reading may be of some help even if no warning light is on,

Was the dealer able to drive it and get the problem to occur?

Re: Gas pedal does nothing for 5 seconds and then back Sign In

The shop that always works on my car drove it, and even at the higher speeds, but couldn't get it to happen. They said they cleared the codes and that it was something that I would probably just have to live with. They said when it happens just to turn the car off and let it sit for a few minutes to clear the codes. To be honest, i was pretty confused and really don't have the best details of what they said except to turn off the car and it can't be fixed.
I can call them back for a better explanation, but it seems there should be something that can be fixed.
Maybe the Honda dealer is a good place to go to next?

Anything can be fixed but you first have to duplicate the symptoms and then know what to do when it occurs. Your guy may have issues on both fronts. Even the dealer will have problems if they can't duplicate the symptoms.
