Or do I need to just drop the tank and deal with the extra work?? If there was you'd probably see something looking up from under like a metal panel, T khooper New User Apr 2, 2008, 3:52 PM Post #3 of 4 (1643 views) Re: Fuel Pump Replacement Sign In  To remove: 1) Relieve the fuel system pressure 2) Disconnect the negative battery cable 3) Remove the rear seat cushion and unplug the electrical connectors from the fuel pump. 4) Unfasten the four pump access cover screws and remove the cover. 5) If equipped,unplug the pump electrical connector located under the cover. 6) Unfasten the fuel line clip(s) and disconnect the line(s) from the pump. 7) Use a fuel pump locking ring removal tool or a brass drift and a hammer to unfasten the pump locking retaining ring. 8) Remove the fuel pump and the gasket from the tank To Install: 9) Install a new gasket and place the pump into position in the tank. 10) Install the pump retaining ring. 11) Connect the fuel line(s) to the pump and install the line retaining clip(s) 12) Install the access cover, then tighten the retainers. 14) Attach the pump electrical connector(s) 15) Install the rear seat cushion. 16) Connect the negative battery cable 17) Start the car and check for proper operation. _________________________________ (This post was edited by khooper on Apr 2, 2008, 3:53 PM) Tom Greenleaf Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator Apr 2, 2008, 5:38 PM Post #4 of 4 (1632 views) Re: Fuel Pump Replacement Sign In Thanks for that! I'm surprised as I wouldn't think you could have fuel tank be the only metal between tank and uphostery/seat or anything direct to cabin of vehicle. They sure used to way back when - tanks were the metal of trunk floors and some gas tanks were mounted inside of truck cabs! I'm thinking of all the grief GM had with mounting tanks outside frame rails on their trucks which could really only be a problem with side impact but all has to be considered.
