Front driveshaft boot 2000 astro

Greetings, RE: 2000 Chevy Astro. I noticed that the front driveshaft boot is missing where the shaft exits the transfer case. I've looked on line hoping to find one but find no mention of them. I can see the polished area where a boot was. Thanks Richard
I do fine
d boots for CV joints but not driveshaft.

You can try the dealer but I suspect the whole driveshaft is old as a complete unit and not serviceable separately.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Haven't worked in the trade for a while but years ago at an agency for another brand we used split replacement boots. Hoping to find such an animal.

Greetings, Split Boots have been used on Porsche, VW and many industrial applications and greatly appreciated as they make complete dismatling unnessary. If you were refering to this, I am supprised.

Yes, that is my opinion. Split boots are gimmicks that totally unreliable and never used by any OEM that I'm aware of.

Whole new shaft is not so expensive usually - exchange for a rebuild one with new boots - the right ones. Near universal suggestion for automotives will be to forget split boots if they even sell them anymore for automotives,

Split boots where used by some VW's from the factory belive it or not lol.. yes they are garbage you had to always service then because they slowly seep out and let water in. I have used strachy boots you use a cone and lube it and strech it over the joint.. they work ok, but still prefer OEM style.

I don't think this guy is talking about a C/V shaft. I though he was talking about the front propeller shaft on an AWD.

OK - thanks. Found whole unit at NAPA - ouch - $409 w $60 core included till old one returned. Beginning to like Z's boot kit more now and hope for the best that the joint is still good after being exposed.............At least it's available whole - they didn't list a boot kit of any kind there online anyway,
