I have recently learned that my CPO lexus has had over 11500 dollars in damages that where not disclosed to me at the time of buying the car, this after I asked the sales rep point blank about it. I also learned that the dealer who sold me the car was the dealer who fixed it. I now have to take the car to the dealer tomorrow to allow them to look at the car. I need to know about spot welds, are spot welds from the factory present in the rear of the frame. I have some in the front but none in the back. Also there is a different coating to the rear frame quarters than in the front.. Any help with this would be huge, I am not a good car guy so I just trying to figure it all out.

How old is this car and was it purchased at a Lexus dealer? Have you searched this car by its VIN to get a history?

At a certain point in my state or perhaps the whole of US and Canada will pull the VIN on the car such that if fixed it is called a "Salvage" car which absolves all responsibility of the car maker from recalls, safety issues etc., and you are on your own with the car. These cars can be a great bargain but carry that history and the value is reduced substantially.

Are you having problems with this car?

You could have legal issues with a selling dealer for not disclosing that -- at least in my state.

When you went to trade it was it a matter of value or they didn't want it at all?

It may be a good car but a reputable dealer for high price cars wouldn't touch that as they don't have to. Check out sites for car valuation and what dealers are likely to pay for a trade and that # has nothing to do with what's on your paperwork in the deal unless you say at the last minute no trade and see what the new deal is!! Then you see some dancing around.

How long ago was the original purchase? It may be too late for recourse,

T
