I need a new "used" front transfer case for my 1997 AWD Ford Explorer SUV. SUV makes clunk sound when accelerating, and three mechanics says the same--new case needed. I want to get it myself at a salvage yard. But do I need a "1997" AWD Ford Explorer transfer case, or will another AWD Ford Explorer year work as well?? i.e. would a 1998, 1999, 2000 fit? And etc.

Your best bet is to get the numbers off of the tag on the transfer case. Then the salvage yard can compare the numbers to what they have in stock. Steve

dont hold me to it, but you should be ok with the 1997-2001 years because they went to the AWD system and in 2002 the next generation debuted __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
