Ford 7.3 diesel brakes apply when vacuum is hooked up

Hi I have a 95 F-350 with a 7.3L diesel. My brakes automatic apply when I hook the vacuum line to the brake booster. When I pull the vacuum off the brakes release. Does this seem more like a brake booster problem, a master cylinder problem, or something else? Thanks, James

Wow! Any recent master cylinder or brake pedal adjustment anythings done recently? My guess is the vacuum boost concept even for the 350 which I'm not so familiar with is about the same as other vehicles. The booster is supposed to hold vacuum in wait for the pushrod to push and magnify the pressure it receives as you know. Somehow either that pushrod is stuck still touching, perhaps master cylinder isn't springing back to its "home" position for some reason or if this just came on out of the blue I'd blame the booster itself but am uncertain how to verify that so hope others will jump in with their thoughts on this. Nobody wants to replace a part unnecessarily, T
