I have a 2000 Alero. I can be driving my car and it will all of a suddens start jumping and gradually slow down. If you try to push the gas it will just jump. Sometimes it will shut the whole engine down.You let it sit a few mins. and it will start running fine for a while. We have changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, coils, and the crank shaft position sensor. What else could it be?

We took it to Auto Zone. They said it was a firing problem. What else would need to be changed out?

Please help!!!!

You didn't say the ignition module was replaced. Could very well be that. Also GM has alot of mass airflow sensor issues that can give you some very strange symptoms. Sometimes those csn just be cleaned off because even just a piece of fuzz on it can make your car do some crazy things!

Did autozone scan the computer? What were the trouble codes?

You did not menition Spark Plug Wires? Also, you said fuel filter, what about the Fuel Pump? These are notorious for fuel pump issues especially when they heat up, they start bucking and then die out, the one way to test is attatching a fuel pressure gauge and taping the gauge to the windshield and driving, BUT-- BE VERY CAREFUL on how you route the hose and make sure the connector at the fitting at the fuel rail is tight and has no leaks prior to driving. The pressures should be close to 60 psi and then as the problem occurs note the pressure it should drop an extreme amount.
start there and if the pressure does drop, replace the pump and the strainer. Also, you die not say, is this a 3.4 or a 2.4
