Fan on excessively Sign In

Hi,
1st time user so please be gentle!!!
I have a Kia Carnival V6 2005 model with 180k, recently the fan seems to be running far more than it used to and runs almost all the time when the engine is warm, however the temp gauge remains at less than 1/2 which is where it usually sits....
Please help!!!
Thanks

Are the A/C or defroster on at the time?

A/C is on sometimes but not always & defrost not on at all.
I noticed today that the fan stayed on for a good 10 seconds even though I had got out, turned the ignition off and was walking away!!! Just a bit embarrassing Wink

Embarrassed? What for. That is normal operation for many cars. The fan is supposed to run whenever the A/C compressor is engaged and that is engage in defrost and many other modes on new cars to remove moisture. Start the car cold with the HVAC system shut completely off before starting the car and see if the fan starts with the car. If it doesn't then stop looking at the fan and start looking at the temp of the car. I can't tell you much more than that because that car isn't sold here in the US.
