I have a 93' Saturn SC2 1.9 4 cylinder 5 speed.
The cars temp gauge goes up when I'm driving at lower speeds or idleing.
I've let the car idle with the hood open and noticed that the fan does not kick on.
I checked the fuses and relays for the fan and they are good , to make sure I replaced them but the fan still wont kick on.
I tested the fan motor with jumper wires to the battery and it does work but I can't figure out why it wont come on on it's own when it should.
If I can't figure anything out I thought I might wire the fan to a toggle switch inside to car but I would consider that a last resort.
Any help or info would be apreciated.

I believe your worrying about nothing. These fans are not programmed to come on until 225 degrees or higher. I know it doesn't sound right to you but that is the way it's supposed to work. The temp always gets higher in slower traffic.

Just turn the A/C on if you want to test the fan operation. If it runs with the A/C, there is nothing wrong.

Hammer is correct about the fans coming on at 225°. Sometimes it helps to be able to look at a datastream to verify this...

Just so I'm clear, are they coming on late or not at all and the gauge is pegging??
