2000 Ford F-150 4 WD 8 cylinder My son was driving the truck. It stalled at a stop sign and wouldn't start. Had it towed to a garage. They're saying it needs a new engine. A used one is $4,500, re-manufactured $6,000. They tried turning the crankshaft manually and it wouldn't budge. Don't know what to do.

You don't have a bunch of options. You either put a new motor in your car or you trade it for new car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Yikes! No oil or oil pump --- doesn't matter it by your description seized. NFG for whole engine. Ask around for a less expensive replacement or give up on the thing. Suks - sorry to hear of this, T

Be absolutly sure on the diagnosis. Was the serpentine belt removed when trying to turn engine. A/c , p/s , alt or w/p could have failed. Was plugs pulled and engine tried, Water from intake gasket into cylinders can cause hydro lock. With whats at stake its worth asking about.
