Engine oil in coolant.

My son poured engine oil into the radiator (thinking it was coolant)of his 2002 Chevy s10 blazer and then drove it. I have been using a kit that attaches to the heater hose to flush the system. Some of the oil is coming out (looks like mayo) but it is still sticking to the inside of the radiator and overflow tank. What can I do to break up the oil to get it out before replacing the thermostat and hoses?

Run some liquid dishwashing soap through it until it breaks down all the grease and then flush it real good.

Not if you only use a little (one squirt). It needs clean water to foam anyway. The oil will kill the bubbles.

I heard dish washing powder, the stuff for dish washing machines (Cascade), works good also. Mix it with water before adding it to your cooling system. I'd do it with the thermostat removed also.
Nick should know this. Them diesel guys are always getting blown out coolers.

Oil in coolant needs be out fast. It's hard on rubber parts, hoses, and anything rubber. Automatic dish washing soaps and laundry soaps don't foam too much by intended so you don't do the "I Love Lucy" trick with foam all over the place.
You still rinse it clear out anyway and refill with proper new mix of antifreeze and water,

Used Cascade just yesterday actually, and must have t-stat out to do it right. Also had good luck with simple green.
