In the door jam there is a spring that has to be removed to change out the top pin in the henge. A spring compression tool is to big to fit in the area. Any suggestions on how to remove and replace this spring? Some are a real pill and most are near impossible to do without help or a way to support the door or you'll damage it. Tom Greenleaf Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator Jul 17, 2007, 4:38 PM Post #4 of 4 (1343 views) Re: Door henge repair Sign In If it's anything close to one I own (97 C/K 2500) the whole hinge is welded in and you can get kits for just the pin and bushing which I have and am waiting to get help because the truck is mint and I don't want to chip up the door doing this. Mine isn't broken but just the bronz bushings on just the lower are a little worn but it ticks me off. Take a look at yours to see if it's welded as the body shop I use says it has to be drilled out!!
