Distributor on 1995 Honda Accord Sign In

Hey all,

After making a drive to Vegas one weekend, my car began to idle really low and it seemed to be lacking power. This went on for about a month until finally, one day, it wouldn't start. I had it towed to a mechanic who claimed the distributor needed to be replaced. He replaced it and it began running again (although still lacking power). Three weeks later, the car has begun to die whenever I let it run idle at a stop light.

I brought it back to the mechanic and, of course, the car ran fine every time he drove it. But now that it's back in my posession, it's dying again.

I took it to another mechanic when the check engine light came on, and he ran a test saying the distributor was still the problem and that I should take it back to the original mechanic.

Does this sound right to you guys? Any advice? Being in Los Angeles, I'm hesistant to trust some of these mechanics as I've heard friends tell me of bad experiences, but they seem to be honest to me.

Thanks for the time guys.

-Evan

Crazy What mechanic replaced the distributor and where - Vegas? That could be a problem if it's bad now and you are back in LA. LA is a big city last I heard. Are you wary of all mechanics there? Just to add - is the timing belt up to date?
