Dirty Head Light Lense Sign In

How can i clean the head light lense on my 2000 dodge neon? I guess the best way to describe the problem is that the lense is all cloudy (almost similar to how paint fades in the sun) it's not cracked or anything (theres no water condensation in it or anything) just really faded so its dimming the lights a little bit.

Re: Dirty Head Light Lense Sign In

That product is available and helps for OUTSIDE issues. That one isn't all that great IMO. If bad enough and if you want to chance it AYOR - dry it well and spray Martin Senor (sp?) Clear Engine Enamel sold at NAPA parts stores especially for inside problems of foggyness or spider viening. It will fog up worse first and dry clear as new - at least in my experience and when all else was lost and willing to give up. Best to take it right off the car for that and do it such that it can sit for a day. Bright hot sun works best. If you can find a carb spray type nozzle to fit the can it really helps. Don't overdo it, may ruin it but I've done it on several with remarkable results that lasted! A-Y-O-R only. Test with a Q-tip on one spot and you'll get a good idea if it will help or make worse up front.

Good luck,

T

And/or if it is outside, use rubbing compound to clean and then use a good wax to seal the surface.

This is a little more expensive than the other suggestions but works well... The trick is sanding off the oxidization off the lens 1st & then sealing.

Re: Dirty Head Light Lense Sign In

ive tried the different plastic cleaners and compounds with some success....they never look crystal clear like new again and the results are only temporary (few months). i got tired of looking at the clouded lenses and having to put the elbow grease into them.

i broke down and bought new headlights. when you put them side by side next to the originals......theres no comparision like new
