Did I get sold a dud Jag Xf? Sign In

Bought my dream car 4 weeks ago - 2013 Jaguar Xf. Have had it back at the dealer's mechanic twice already. If I take my foot off the accelerator, especially at slow speeds, the car pulls back as if I am driving with the handbrake on. The dealer says this is just how a Jaguar drives? Is it? It has also cut out twice - not the eco stop-start facility. Really need some independent expert opinions? Thanks

If you put it into neutral while your rolling, does it still feel the brakes are dragging.

Any trouble codes? If so, what are the numbers?

It coasts fine in neutral. Where would I look for fault codes?

Hey - in just 4 weeks dealer no less is blowing you off on this? I don't know tons about these cars as highly specialized for dealer only specialty with features you should have been instructed on or asked if you needed or wanted an "orientation" to this car in particular and how it works.

They've said it's the way it should be and didn't explain? Ask again - they have a warranty on this if something is wrong and or it might be YOU don't know what features it has or how to use them.

All kinds of traction controls at your request highly likely. Push a button for a "sport" drive feel or performance handling.

You feel a drag that may just be a locked transmission for ultimate engine to wheel feel and control.

Congrats on acquiring your dream car. I strongly think you need to know its features, settings and how to drive it for the condition at hand or ones you wish.

Super high tech performance vehicles are their own thing and the dealer should have asked or you should have spent a ton of time learning what it can and should do and how to request it for this exact model and whatever optional or standard features it has.

Then when YOU know what it should be doing is when YOU know it is or isn't just doing what you told it to do,

That is how a Jag drives. I don't think the lower gears use over running clutches so the engine brakes the car in lower gears. Just put it into neutral on a slight incline and see if it rolls. If it does, you are fine.
