Diagnosis Fatigue: Bushings, Axle, or what? Sign In

Four weeks ago I bought a 96 Infiniti G20, 4 cylinders, with 137,000 miles on it.
It had an engine light on for the O2 Sensor and the EGR.
The dealer agreed to change the right axle, the belt, two engine mounts, and the rear brakes.
The ABS light went on.

Was in a rush to get out of town, so didn't stay to argue with the dealer.
I got the O2 sensor replaced.

I'm now 3 solid hours from the guys who did the first job and here's the situation:

A - On hard turns, I sometimes hear a rattling from around the left wheel
This is only sometimes. I haven't heard it in a while, though it might be because I'm driving gently. I took it into a mechanic and he diagnosed worn bushings and worn transmission mount.
Problem is, I haven't got (m)any of the other symptoms.
  • The only time the car feels like it's being blown around is when I'm at 65-85 mph, and even then it doesn't feel out of control, doesn't pull, doesn't bump, steering is tight... And it's a small car, so maybe it is being blown?
  • As for transmission mount - I don't hear any noise or hesitation when the gears shift.

B - Shaky idle
It vibrated a bit when I bought it, but I was told that it's 4-cylinder and they all vibrate. Replaced two engine mounts and O2 sensor and it still vibrated. But now (sometimes) it's worse. I feel like the steering wheel is giving me a hand massage. Then again, sometimes it runs like before.

I read that this could be bushings or it could be from the axle replacement done poorly.

C - Car creaks
It's been doing this from the start, but now I'm wondering if it's a symptom.

(D - Belt Noise
Sometimes the belt squeaks. When it squeaks, it on startup, but not every startup has a squeak. Brought it in for inspection in two places and was told
1 - belt is fine, might be a pulley, not enough noise to tell, bring it back when it's constant.
2 - belt is fine, might have been a lousy job putting it in, but nothing we can recommend.)

So, what do you think is the real problem here? I don't want to pay for costly repairs and find that the problem isn't solved.

Thank you!
