I drive a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, 6cyl 3.4 fuel injected with 75,000 miles. This was my son's car and I guess the problem has been around for a few years, but it is driving me crazy since I own it now. I will start driving and within a few minutes the audiable sound will come on and go off as the Trac Off, service vechile soon and the anti lock lights up and stays til I shut the car off. I have gone maybe 2 weeks without it but that is rare, it is usually everyday. Have had it looked at but they can't figure it out. Please any info would be great.

What you are experiencing is a problem within the ABS braking system, The IPC illuminates the ABS indicator when the following occurs: • The electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects a malfunction with the antilock brake system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the body control module (BCM) indicating that the ABS indicator is illuminated. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning. The IPC illuminates the traction off indicator when the following occurs: • The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The traction control system is disabled when the following occurs • The EBCM detects a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives class 2 messages from the EBCM requesting illumination of both the service vehicle soon and traction off indicators Please visit a reputable dealer or a shop with Tech 2 scan capability and retrieve all DTC's and let me know what they are, and I will formulate a plan of diagnostics that best serves your vehicles needs. This is a very simple system and can be diagnosed with the the right flow chart depdending on the DTC's. make sure to list all the history DTC's as well as any current.
