Hi. I just bought a 01 mitsubishi galant v6. When I bought it the guy told me I would need a new catalytic converter. I thought this meant that I couldnt get it inspected. Upon having it for 2 weeks now there are some things that have occurred that I am worried about please help!! First, ywice it has jerked when I pulled off from stop sign. It sounds like it revves then it jerks, but it drives normal. It doesnt shift hard or anything. Second, the driver side front tire sounds like it is popping when I drive over lil bumps or anything like that. Third, it squels really loud when I first cut it on. Please help. I dont have money for a mechanic check up!!And I need this car to keep running. I work full time and go to school full time.marybrinn@hotmail.com

you need to provide more information about the car, like mileage and any know last service information
but heres throwing some ideas at ya
the popping noise in the tire and the jerking on take off could be related in that is more then likely something worn out in your front suspension. ball joints, struts or CV joints.
the squealing is probably just a bad serpentine belt.
catalytic converters can be rather expensive to just throw at a car if they arent needed. more times then not there will be a check engine light or severe performance loss when a catalytic converter goes bad.
