Cooling system Sign In

1990 Chevy tahoe 5.7, Vehicle seem to run hotter than normal. It used to run under 200 degrees then all the sudden it started to run about 235/240 degrees. Replaced water pump, thermostat 190 degree, cooling sensor, flushed system. When temp comes up sometimes it reaches about 260 engine light comes on then temp falls back to 235 or so. Any suggestions?

Re: Cooling system Sign In

That is definitely too hot. First pressure test to find any leaks. If you are consuming any coolant, you could have head gasket problems. If not, then a restricted radiator is a high likelihood. Make sure you are getting all the air out of the system.
