Coolant accidentally put in wrong place Sign In

i have a 2005 hyuandai elantra.

i accidentally poured about 1/4 cup (maybe less) of coolant (PEAK brand, 50/50 blend) into the brake fluid container. Will this have an affect on my ability to brake safely? I have heard i need to get the brake fluid flushed out. Will the coolant rot away at anything in the brake system if i try to drive my car to a mechanic?

thank you for any insight!

you need to have your break system flushed ASAP.. it can cause major damage to seals.

I would try to suck as much as possible out of the reservoir and replace it with clean fluid before you even attempt to drive it to the shop to keep the problem to a minimum.

If not too late right now - suck it all out now - don't touch brake pedal. IMO you have a better chance but who knows to flush it out and get thru this with antifreeze. Oil would be a real nightmare.

First sign of any brake trouble or improper feel don't wait and don't let a proper fix even if expensive get in the way as an accident is far worse than a few less bucks in your pocket!

PS: Not to me but has happened. High hopes that antifreeze floated on top but not sure............
