I checked the coolant level and it was low, so I put some antifreeze-water mix in it until it reached the right level. Only two days later, however, despite the fact that there were NO further leaks that left drops on my floor, I noticed my coolant level had dropped again, about an inch. My car has clearly not been leaking from the outside since that first day, and there are no signs at all that it is an inside leak, so I am wondering why my coolant level keeps dropping at such a fast rate. Being rather poor, I am afraid to take it into a shop and face an enormous cost. What can I do about this? Please help. DanD Veteran / Moderator Feb 29, 2008, 5:14 AM Post #2 of 3 (1564 views) Re: Coolant Help Sign In It doesn’t take much of a leak to see a level change in the reservoir bottle; but leaving it unchecked could turn into a disaster for the engine. It may take having the system pressure tested to find the leak; even if you have to pay someone to find the cause, it’ll be good money spent. The important thing here is to find out where it’s going before this small leak turns into a large one and an overheated engine. Once you do know what’s going on; then you can decide whether it’s something you can handle repairing on your own or waiting until you can afford to have someone repair it for you. Something like this shouldn’t cost you much more then a half hours worth of time for a garage to find the cause. Dan.
