Clicking noise when breaks applied

I have a 2002 4dr 4 cylinder Honda Accord. The front breaks were replaced in Oct 2007. Last week while driving at about 45 mph I applied the breaks & heard a high speed clicking noise. As I slowed, the clicking slowed. By the time the car came to a stop, the clicking had already stopped. I checked all the bolts on both front breaks & they were all tight. The next day, the clicking noise was gone but has now returned. What else could cause that type of noise as the breaks are applied?

Hard to say. Noises can come from pads, rotor flaws, anti-rattle clips etc. Also funky things like things with the wheel itself like hub caps, trim rings, contact between alloy or metal wheel and hubs. Sometimes rust where pads don't rub the rotor can make noise only when applied. Do your best to make sure they are safe as you seem to have done. Perhaps try rotating wheels and see if noise follows the wheel or stays where it was??
