Hi, this just happened tonight. the car worked fine driving from Winchester - Stoneham, and then to Burlington on the Highway (128) and then back..I get off the exit and start to hear this clicking sound that sounds like when your battery dies..but there was no problem with the battery (I recently had a new one installed). the clicking sound got worse as I continued and sputtered more loudly and I couldn't accelerate the car too much without it being very loud and grinding....it sounded like it was coming from the right side of the car. I recently had work done on the Axel boot as well FYI...so dont know if its that or something else. Also a week ago or two the brakes were squeaky but I just assume it'd go away.....it has gone away last couple days but now this happened. This annoying click click clicking sound that gets louder into more of a sputtering as I apply the gas pedal. It sounds like mostly from the right side of the vehicle if you are looking out the window in front of you.
Any help would be appreciated.

Unsure

The Subaru Forester 2000 has about 80K miles on it.
thanks
- Jeff D.

I am worried this is going to be an expensive fix, I just had work done a few months back.
and now its broken again.
Is it worth fixing or should i just get a new car?

Hi neighbor! Stay off "The Yankee Highway" (128) it's dangerous! You probably have a problem with a CV joint as you fixed the boot that covers it. When that was open sand, water etc., got in there and the joint is now junk (likely). The whole shaft is available rebuilt and they aren't generally all that much money and not worth fixing the old one.

Try steering the car fully either way in a parking lot or safe place and accellerate from a stop and the noise will probably get real loud. That about proves it,

T
