UnimpressedI own a 1994 Bonneville, Pontiac. It has 172,000 miles on it. It has really been running good for the last 2 years, accept replacing the battery twice. I tis making a click clack sound towards the front of the car. I notice when I put my foot on the gas peddle, it stops. When it is idle, it makes noises. A mechanic at a dealership thinks it is the harmonic balancer. I plan on having it fixed this week. My question isit any danger in driving it in this condition. Also my air conditioner is on the blink. It comes out of the vents belowthe steering wheel, but does not come out of the vents on the dash panel. Thanks for any advice you may give me. I appreciate it.

The vents are probably the control head or a stuck diverter door in heater box. You won't like the cost of either of those repairs.

The harmonic balancer is engine critical and if in fact it is bad it can destroy the engine with a failure. The problem is rare but if so must be fixed at once. Your call on whether you should even run the engine again till that's fixed. It's a gamble to run it at all if bad,
