okay so i have a 1999 Chevrolet Metro, and recently it has been missing/sputtering every once in a while when i am idling at a stoplight. I also noticed taht when it does this the interior lights surge in and out. I have lost a LOT of acceleration. What could this be?

Have the alternator check out and the battery also have the computer checked for any stored trouble codes all this can be done at AUTOZONE at no cost.This would help to determind if its a faulty sensor/fuel/or a mechanical problem that we are dealing with.
