My windstar needs a new serpentine belt. The local shop charges 79.99 to change it. I want to change it myself. everywhere I have looked, the instructions say "loosen the tensioner then remove the belt," I have two questions-- How do I loosen the tension pulley? (please explain like you were talking to a five year old. details are very helpful!) Do I need any special tools to do this job?

Have a picture with the words. Dand taught me how to do that. - Using a 15 mm socket or wrench attached on drive belt tensioner pulley bolt. Rotate drive belt tensioner clockwise to remove drive belt from pulleys. WARNING: USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING OR INSTALLING DRIVE BELT TO MAKE SURE THAT TOOL DOES NOT SLIP.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
