Changing Transmission Fluid Sign In

Hi Everyone:

How many miles would you go before you change your auto-transmission fluid in a relatively new car? Also, do you guys regularly change your coolant anti-freeze or do you just check it regularly?

Re: Changing Transmission Fluid Sign In

Car makers will vary with trans fluid change requirements. I do it once on a good used car knowing it's never been done and with my easy driving that's it. If I tow or work with, every year and use synthetic ATF. Unsure of the benefit as I've had some last forever and others just don't even with intense care??

Coolant doesn't wear out so much as the additives. I change it anyway especially cars with Dexcool (GM) and use regular EG as it has proven better. Always check freeze protection before cold weather. Not too strong either but just right. That doesn't wear out either but sometimes if something has happened and water only was added it will be off. Best to always add 50/50 when needed and find out why it needed it as it shouldn't consume it!
