if the hood is unable to be open due to the autorelease being broken. Is there a manual release?

I always thought there was a manual release under the hood. Check out the front of the hood. If you can peek under the hood, you should see a latch that can open manually. Also if you hit the hood on the front sometimes that can make it pop open. I may be wrong, maybe the new vehicles dont have manual latches anymore. Hope I was somewhat helpful here.
