Car won't start Sign In

I have a 2005 Kia Rio that will only start part of the time. I turn the key and get absolutely nothing. I have replace the battery and the cables and know this is not the problem. If I go under the hood and manually connect the relay (I pulled the top of the relay off and push to make a connection). I don't believe the relay it self is the problem. Is there a sensor that may be bad that I am bypassing when manually connect the starter relay?

Re: Car won't start Sign In

this are some that could be the problem..

fuel pump could be bad..turn the car on ac but dont crank the engine..listen for the fuel pump if it turns on..its very low sound so try to do that were it quite..
fuel filter need to be replaced ..
spark plugs..check them
Distributor rotor..
check all fuse..

when the car cranks up does it have trouble turning the engine? could be the starter too..

Re: Car won't start Sign In

The car does not crank. It has no power at the ignition. This is not with every try, but with most of them. There is power to the rest of the car just not the ignition itself. Fuel pump and filter are fine. Spark plugs, distributor and rotar are also fine. I can only start it by manually jumping the starter relay under the hood. This makes me think there may be a sensor disconnected somewhere.

All great suggestions but I already tried all of them. I was going to replace the relay but the auto store tells me it is a dealer only part and the dealer told me I would have to get it elsewhere he doesn't carry it!!

Re: Car won't start Sign In

You stated "no power at the ignition"..."power to the rest of the car"
Where is there no power at?

Just a couple thoughts

Transmission Range Switch (neutral safety switch) Auto trans..
Starter clutch pedal position switch..Manual trans...
Ignition switch..
Wiring..

BTW!..What Dealer told you to go elsewhere for a factory part? Never heard fo that before...
Dealer should be able to order the part.....unless its on some weird national back order, they should be able to get it overnight.....

Re: Car won't start Sign In

There really is power to the entire car. When I try to start the car I turn the ignition and hear all the bells and beeps that are normal but get no reaction from the starter. I don't believe the starter is out because as I said before I can manually manipulate the relay and get started first try everytime.

Cable Kia in Oklahoma City would not even attempt to deal with me on the part (bad customer service on their behalf).

Auto Transmission so I will start at the ignition and see if there is aproblem there then move onto the neutral safety switch. Thanks.
