I have an older Ford Expedition. Got in one morning and it wouldn't start. Assumed it was the battery. Tried to jump, but after 1 hour it still wouldn't start. I get the radio, and dim interior lights, and a clicking when I turn the key. Is it a new battery or alternator that I need?

What you need is some accurate testing starting with the battery. If the battery tests good, then you have to start checking all the cable connections and then the starter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

This may be irrelevent, because I don't know if your vehicle is standard or auto, however,I used to own a kia rio(auto) and it had a problem with the gear shift, when i tried to turn it on i could get dim lights and music and stuff but the car just didnt start.I found out later on that the car,for lack of better words, didnt realize it was in park,so I ended up having to slam the gear shift into park in order to turn it on.again, like I said it could be irrelevent, but a possibility?
