My wifes car occasionally wont restart after its been running. It cranks but wont catch. Most of the time it will restart at 75 minutes after turning it off.thought maybe the crank sensor wire was loose but that wasnt it.Occasionally will need to sit a full 24 hours before restart. Its been to 3 mechanics and the dealer and they all say nothing is wrong with the car.One time it failed to start for one mechanic,he said possible weak spark, rolled it into his shop and it started right up.We were stuck waiting 2x yesterday for this car to be ready to go.Its a 1996 mercury grand marquis 4door.

Look at the wiring under the passenger headlight area. You need to remove the covering. Sounds like there is corrosion in there that may cause the problem. Possibly a brown wire or a green with a red tracer. Good luck.

No wiring under there. Some sort of vaccum or fuel evap canister?Thats all I could see under the headlamp. What kind of system do you think is at fault?I was starting to think it was some sort of computer glitch. My next plan was to see if disconnecting the battery to see if it reset quicker.Im at a loss with this car.

There is a wiring harness that runs across the front of the car in front of the radiator. There is usually a loop of wires that get water in it and corrodes the wiring. Look closely and you will see it.
