Search Auto Parts Search Car wont restart when warm Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Car Troubleshooting gomezaddams New User Apr 17, 2008, 11:42 AM Post #1 of 4 (3103 views) Car wont restart when warm Sign In My wifes car occasionally wont restart after its been running.It cranks but wont catch.Most of the time it will restart at 75 minutes after turning it off.thought maybe the crank sensor wire was loose but that wasnt it.Occasionally will need to sit a full 24 hours before restart.Its been to 3 mechanics and the dealer and they all say nothing is wrong with the car.One time it failed to start for one mechanic,he said possible weak spark,rolled it into his shop and it started right up.We were stuck waiting 2x yesterday for this car to be ready to go.Its a 1996 mercury grand marquis 4door. way2old Veteran / Moderator Apr 17, 2008, 12:39 PM Post #2 of 4 (3101 views) Re: Car wont restart when warm Sign In Look at the wiring under the passenger headlight area. You need to remove the covering. Sounds like there is corrosion in there that may cause the problem. Possibly a brown wire or a green with a red tracer. Good luck. There is usually a loop of wires that get water in it and corrodes the wiring. Look closely and you will see it.
