I also made the second mistake of trying to start the car while being in the pool of water. I had it towed to a mechanic and he found water in the engine. He told me that he removed the wet spark plugs and tried to turn the engine but there was a lot more resistance then there should be. He also said that the rods in the engine more than likely bent while the cyclinder tried to compress the water. We are having it towed back home to take a final look at it. I was wondering if anyone can give me and my dad some advice as too what else to look for or try to do when trying to repair the car? If water came out of spark plug holes while cranking it confirms that the engine was trying to compress water which it can't of course. It kind of remains a question of what was weakest. If it just stopped dead while cranking it might be just one cylinder. If engine was running when it gagged it would really hurt it.
