Car hesitates horribly when i press the gas pedal

I bought this truck about 10 months ago 1986 f150 302 auto. the kick back is not working properly but when ever I press the accelerator hard the engine almost stops dead in its tracks fuel pressures good... weak on my rear tank what can be causing my problem any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

If your good on fuel pressure, the MAP sensor would be my next suspect.
Check for stored codes also.

First thing I'd check would be the fuel filter. (lack of volume)

Maybe I shouldn't have assumed he tested the fuel pressure during the failure..........

the problem with the failure is I have to truly step down or sometimes ill be going up a hill and it knocks me down to 5 mph there is no fuel filter i have a canister and in park reeving up there is no distortion in the way it runs...
it clunks when it hits the bottom going up a hill its frustrating.. I just had it tuned up and found the linkage in the kick back cable is messed up and ford marked the tv cable obsolete and haven't been able to find a new one but i don't believe the cable can cause this problem...

What do you mean by "no fuel filter"? What's in it's place?

Cannister the mechanic told me if I replaced it I would lose the prime on my electronic pump

Whoww, you need a different mechanic. That statement is pure nonsense and indicates that mechanic has no clue what he's doing. These systems are self priming and the fuel filters DO need to be replaced.

 $12.29 for a Napa Gold which is Wix filters.
You need a mechanic if they don't know a fuel filter on a Ford truck as HT said,

You say the fuel pressure is fine but how fast does the pressure drop on tester after you turn off car ? 30 seconds 5 min 20min ???????????
