Can anyone help :( sudden problem.... Sign In

Hi there can anyone help me, I have a 1996 corsa 1.2. I brought it not long ago and the mot was done in oct (before i got the car).

While I have had the car everything has been fine, but the other day i went to go out in it and when I was trying to reverse the rear of the car was lifting up (as if i was trying to reverse with hand brake on or trying to reverse up a curb etc) then after a couple of re tries it seamed ok and reversed and dorve away fine.

I then got a few mins down the road and had to stop at a red light, then as I went to pull away on the green light the car would not pull away properly (almost like trying to pull away in 3rd gear etc) Does anyone have any ideas on what this problem could be? And if so is it a big/major and costly job?

Kind Regards

I would suggest having the brakes inspected; something might be causing them to ( for the lack of a better word) stick on. Degraded shoes, seized or leaking wheel cylinders, parking brake cable partly seized; all could cause the brakes too stick.

Not necessarily big or expensive; but you won’t know until after the inspection.
I know everyone is concerned about costs and rightfully so; but the real issue here is safety.
If this is a brake problem; they could lock, causing an uncontrolled skid; or worse yet fail altogether and not be able to stop the car.
