Can I put ATF in powersteering ? Sign In

I have 96 toyota camry. My powersteering fluid level is very low. So I decided to top-up. But I don't know which one to use. So I was going through the user manual. And I was surprised to see the info that they had mentioned that to use ATF (DEXRON II or III).

My question is 'Can i use ATF for powersteering?' or they both same (powersteering and autotransmission)

If your manual calls for ATF, it is safe to use. Most power steering fluid is just a thin viscosity oil. Usually 10w or so. So be assured it will be OK for your vehicle.
