I have a 2002 Ford Widstar with a 3.3 V6 automatic. I have a problem withevery once in a while the emergerncy brake lite will come on when driving down the road. An when this happens the speedometer only regesters around 35 mph's. The performance of the car is fine and the cruise work well the tachometer also works just fine. Does anyone have an idea as to what may caouse this or what I should look for as it is driving me a little crazy. Most of the time if you stop and shut the engine of for a minute or two evrything will go back to normal. The brake light goes out and the speedometer works just fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thank

I deleted both of your other questions. Please stop creating duplicates. If you want it moved to a different category, I can do that but it will be seen by everybody regardless of which category it is posted in.

There is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that many other people have the same problem. The bad news is that it is very complicated problem. A good samaritan with a Windstar built a website to try to force Ford into a recall. He was partially successful. Everything you need to know is on this page, it's very comprehensive. I know that links are not allowed on this site but it is a tsb/recall type page so hopefully the moderators will let this slide until you see the link. It is: __________ There is a lot of information on this page with clear explanations and color pictures. This problem has caused fires in some vehicles so anybody with a 1999-2003 should take a minute or 2 to read this page

Normally I don't respond to edits Z but you've been here a while and are a decent poster....

I was planning on leaving the link but that page has advertising on it and is linked to another repair forum so I had to remove it....
