Brake Light on at times

I have a 2003 Grand Marquis, at normal breaking everythings fine, but when I make a sudden stop my Brake light turns on and my break seems to tighten up. I'm thinking it's the master cylinder, but would the brake light turn on because of this? Thanks for your input.

You should check the level in the master, as the pads wear down the level will drop. It can get to a point where on level ground the light will be off but going around corners or sudden brking can move the fluid enough to turn on the light.
If the level is low, you should remove all the wheels & inspect the complete system or if you aren't familiar enough with it, take it in & have it inspected.
