Okay hey everyone and i hope you can help... I have a 1995 Dodge ram 1500. It has an automatic transmission and i've never had this problem from anything i've ever owned. Mostly because i drive manual but, i couldn't pass him up. So, the problem is the truck will not start in park. It will only start in neutral. Granted i've been given a rough time cause my uncles say "your problem is it's a Dodge". I haven't had the truck long but I am becoming attached quickly. I knew it would be alot of work so i'm prepared. I don't see how it would relate to the battery because it starts perfectly well in neutral. It is still possible though and i know that. When in park, it will make the normal click heard when a battery is drained and won't crank over. It displays around the normal halfway mark on the volt meter. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. *also: i would like to apologize for putting this in the wrong place...sorry everyone*

I am thinking its the parking sensor. The fact that it starts in neutral suggests this. Your car thinks it is in a gear and will not start. A quick fix for this (just to get you out of trouble) is what a friend of mine did. From drive, he would sharply move the stick into Park. This worked about 70% of the time until his parking sensor was fixed. Remember, do this in last case scenario.

http://www.autozone.com/...artTypeResultSet.htm That's the switch but I think like Doc suggested the truck doesn't really think it's in park fully. Try nudging the shifter more past park and if it works it could be an adjustment.

It was a long time ago now but a ton of Ford products (I know this is not a Ford) had this problem and they could fall out of park without touching them and take off in reverse and or not start in park,

Okay, i'll try it. Like i said i have never owned an automatic, i thought that might be it but i had no real clue. Thanks for the info and i will post a reply as soon as i get this all figured out. I'm sure that i'll probly be posting more things related to this truck later because it really needs some TLC... Thanks again.
