Basic wiring question...

Would someone please be kind enough to explain to me what the best way to do this would be.
I have a emergency light bar which I would like to install on my van. It needs a 5 switch, switch box to run it for example one switch for rotating lights 2nd for flashers 3rd left alley light 4th right alley light and last take down lights.
So I want to use the switches that have back lighting and that will have 3 tabs off the back 2 for the hot and 1 for the ground.
The question is do you think I could run a common hot to feed all these switches and a common ground. I'm trying to do most of the wiring on my workbench so when the weather breaks I can carry it out, mount it and only install a few wires. Plus I'm looking for a nice clean install.

I'm going to try to attach a picture of a similar switch box to help set the picture for what I am trying to do.

How basic do you want it? How many pins on the switches? Is the light self contained, or does it need a power booster to run the lights? Some of them run on 200+ volts and have a box that needs installed to power them. If it is self contained and the switches are just 2 pin, wire power to one, and jump the rest of them. Then run the leads to each section of the light. All ytou want the switch to do is break the current to shut it off. Simple series circuit. But there sre still variables with the light bar. If you search the manufacturers site, they may give information on how they recommend wiring.

5 switches in all is what I need. i did check the mfg. website and they have a ton of great info however nothing about a switchbox.
I figured I would run a main power wire with an in line fuse to the box and then take the power off the same line to go to each switch. The website did recommend that the main ground be ran all the way to the battery.
The guy that had this before me had two wires and a ground to each switch. a mess of wire. This way I would just have that main power wire and a main ground wire.
