BMW Z3 Stalling Problem

Hi everyone. I have a 2001 Z3 2.5 6-cylinder automatic. I'm having an issue with stalling. When I first start the car, it runs perfectly. But if I have to stop anywhere and turn it off, it will sometimes stall a couple of times, and it drives very sluggishly, when I start it back up. It still runs ok, just doesn't seem to have the power that it should. No indicator lights come on, just the "service engine" light that stays on most of the time.
The car is covered by a full warranty, so I'll be putting it in the shop soon, but I was wondering if anyone might have some insight into possible causes.
