Alternator Problem

Hi there my truck died on me last night while I was driving and all power has ceased to it. I tried jumping it but it died immediately after it was jumped. I'm wondering if this likely to be a faulty battery or a bad alternator. My battery light also came on a few minutes before dying.

Test both battery and charging system. No doubt just a voltmeter on it right now would show it's not charging which I'm guessing is the up front problem but don't just think it could only be the alternator so fast either,
