Air when hitting brakes

1990 Pontiac Transport 3.1 engine 175000 miles Today a sound started when hitting the brakes. There is a air flow sound coming from the bellow which goes to the master cylinder. The Sound happens when hitting the brakes only. The pedal goes down just over half way, and the sound continues until I release the pedal. It also has a low idle at stop lights, which seems like a vaccum leak. I have check the hose going to the brake booster and not issues there, I had tried to research if it is the power brake booster but get different stories, and do not know if it might just be the check valve.

Sounds like your brake booster is leaking vacuum and will have to be replaced. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Could it be the check valve on the booster? I pulled it off and I can blow in one end coming from the manifold, and the other end it will allow me to blow into it sometimes as if it doesnt seat all the way every time.
