Air hose going to ???

1993 Ford F150 6 cyl -4.9 liter; Looking at motor from the front, the lower left pulley the serpentine belt contacts belongs to the air pump. There is a hose, maybe 1-1 1/2 inch, going from the air pump to a canister just behind the battery.There is another hose going from that canister to what I have no clue. It has been off since I bought the truck about 1994 or 95, at least I think so. I can see nothing that that hose would connect, either near by or anywhere at all. It has been open, I checked today and it does have a small suction when holding my palm over the hose end. I closed it with duct tape.
Where should that hose be connected?
