My 80 yr old aunt took her 2000 Subaru Forester into the dealership for an oil change. Within 2 hours and just driving the car home, the gas gauge read 'empty' and the 'check engine light' came on. Oh, btw, they bent the hood doing the oil change and had to replace it. Anyway, she brought it back to get checked out and they told her it would cost $600.00 for fixing the issues and labor. She has not driven the car as she is afraid they did something to make the car unsafe. Today she had to drive it less than 4 miles and when she came home, an oil leak started and left about a 10-12"Diameter leak (she is in NJ). What do you think about this? I read something online that stated that if they overfill the oil that would trigger the gas gauge and engine light issue? I really appreciate any and all help with this~amazing that nowadays, the elderly haven't got a chance dealing with things today...

You didn't say how close you were to the car and situation. What a mess! Wrecked hood and now some $600 in unstated needs, and oil leak etc. all for getting an oil change! I'd tow the car for an independent assessment of just what the situation is with as much info as you or she can muster with a written report of what likely went wrong and decide what to do from there, T
