Started with a check engine light which I get on a regular basis at this point: clean intake sensor, replace gas cap….150k on engine so I just expect some up keep. I have not had time to get the code read (all happened yesterday) but I started getting a flicker of an ABS light with a Check engine light. This was on to and from work with no failures (70 miles). Got home grabbed the family for dinner out and backed out the driveway and as I started to slow down the ABS activated and the pedal became mushy. This was followed by both the engine light and ABS light going out. I drove to dinner where the same things happen without any ABS light on at very slow, stopping speed. Driving home the ABS light returned without the check engine light. The same ABS activation at slow speed occurred once I got home.
Where do I want to start trouble shooting? I enjoy working on my truck but at this point I am over my head and just do not want to throw money at it to fix it.

I definately needs codes checked. I'm concerned about the ABS going mushy on you if not provoked?? That could just be a warning of bad master cylinder which should have set a red brake warning light if pedal sunk far enough.
Right now I can't think of a common denominator for both issues.
Being 4X4 - are all tires evenly worn? That matters in general but can fool ABS if off enough. Default for ABS is supposed to be normal braking action while like is on,

I replaced both rear calipers last month and did not get the result I was looking for when I bled the system, I was going to re bleed the system but is still works fine just not like new. All the tires are in good shape. Thanks for your input.

I'd re-bleed whole system as if they didn't feel ok real soon when done then there's air caugh up no making matters any better. ABS could be (really not sure) sensing imbalances somewhere as there's a lot of line to that stuff.
Still can't figure why CEL and ABS issues or how they relate if they do at all??

The 1st place to start would be to pull the codes and see if they relate to your problem or not.
I'm not exactly sure what you meant by "not getting the results you wanted"
With the abs light coming on, that means there is something going on with the anti-lock system. It might or might not have something to do with your low pedal problem. If you don't have the means to diagnose the abs system it might be best to take it in.....
Don't take this the wrong way but since you made the statement I do have to reply to it...
When you are experiencing ANY problem, especially a brk problem. There is no guarantee that problem is going to remain at the same level and not get way worse very quickly or completely fail. It is always best to get it check out completely before doing more damage to the system and not continue to drive the vehicle, not knowing what is going on.
But to ignore a serious brake problem and go as far as to inolve your whole family and everyone else who you pass by is really over the top for me.
